Meeting the needs of small entrepreneurs
The microfinance institution (MFI) Crisol y Encarnación Financiera SA (CEFISA) was founded in 1997 and provides financial services to micro, small and medium enterprises in rural and urban areas in Paraguay. From its head office it runs a network of eight branches throughout the country.
Many small businesses struggle to obtain long-term financing as most loans available for this sector tend to be short term. By filling this void, CEFISA is an important catalyst for job generation and poverty reduction.
CEFISA’s portfolio remains focused on microcredit and the SME sector, generally recognized as the engine of the economy, providing substantial employment opportunities.
CEFISA has joined a ‘mentoring the mentor’ programme to assess its social performance management. CEFISA is working on an action plan to further increase the social impact of its services and loans.
CEFISA has been an Oikocredit partner since 2009.Download this project as a PDF
